The ‘Green Map System’ Makes Green Travel Easier.

Created by local mapmaking teams around the world, The Green Map System provides an amazing collection of information at the click of the mouse.

It’s a gold mine for the green minded people.

There are hundreds of green maps from over 50 countries to explore, each of which highlights a community’s natural, cultural and sustainable resources such as recycling centers, heritage sites, community gardens, toxic waste sites and socially conscious businesses.

The folks at Green Map System are now working on merging all local knowledge with updated iconography, using a Google Map mashup, to create an open interactive Green Mapmaking website - known as My Green Map or Open Green Map. All the information from the current green maps will be added to My Green Map and it’s interactiveness will allow for everyone to quickly share their own selection of sustainability sites, pathways and resources online.

You can check on the progress of My Green Map here. A September 2008 launch date is anticipated.
