Traveling the Green Way

Joie de Vivre, California’s largest boutique hotel collection, has ‘greened’ its Silicon Valley properties.

The Domain Hotel and Wild Palms Hotel in Sunnyvale; Hotel Avante in Mountain View; The Moorpark Hotel in San Jose, and Hotel Los Gatos in Los Gatos have been certified as Green Businesses by Santa Clara County.

“We are committed to being a creative steward to our environment as well as delivering delightful guest experiences at each of our uniquely designed properties,” says Karlene Holloman, senior vice president of operations at Joie de Vivre.

At The Domain Hotel, eco-friendly changes include replacing disposable flatware and tableware with reusable items, installing low-flow toilets and an optional towel and linen reuse policy for guests. The Moorpark Hotel adopted energy efficient purchasing and usage policies for ordering supplies and using equipment to minimize the impact on the environment.

Along with efforts of each hotel, the Silicon Valley properties each have recycled products, energy saving programs (including air conditioning unit sensors), pollution prevention, and waste reduction and recycling programs.
