Sri Lankan Resort World’s Top Eco Lodge
Sri Lanka’s KumbukRiver Eco Extraordinaire resort has won the World’s Leading Eco-Lodge Award at the recent World Travel Awards 2008 in Dubai.
“Sustainability and green tourism are becoming major economic drivers for the tourism industry and we are delighted that Sri Lanka is gaining international recognition for its eco tourism initiatives,” says Heba Al Ghais Al Mansoori, Middle East Director of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
Situated 250 km from Colombo, in the Okkampitiya, the echo lodge borders the Kumbukkan Oya, a Sri Lankan river that never runs dry . Its eco plan includes “a commitment to preserving the habitat, planting a tree and helping the rural economy reeling under the shackles of poverty and protecting the wildlife.”

This is the place to be; and Sri Lanka as a whole…what a country. Only if things were litle more quiet there…! Nevertheless, a great country still and KumbukRiver tops!
