Traveling the Green Way

Green Tips From a Traveler…Elizabeth from Go Green Travel Green Blog.

by Liz Lewis on July 18th, 2008

Today’s green tips traveler is Elizabeth from the Go Green Travel Green blog. An avid traveler commited to reducing her environmental impact, Elizabeth (and co-blogger Kimberly) see their popular blog as a resource for ‘travelers who want to be greener and environmentalists who want to travel.’

Here’s Elizabeth’s tips for traveling green…

When I travel I try my best to be a green traveler by beginning with the little things like brining my own water bottle and packing light. If I’m staying at a hotel I’m extremely conscious of turning off the lights and unplugging an unused lights, hairdryers, refrigerators, etc.

And of course, when getting around the city I walk or take public transportation! Public transportation is a surprisingly great place to meet locals.

Elizabeth’s favorite green place…

Well, literally green—that would be Ireland or Northern Minnesota. Green in the environmental sense it would have to be Vancouver.

And Elizabeth recommends that travelers who want to go green should…

Start with the little [green] things. Don’t make too big of a jump right away—focus on packing light, recycling more, consuming less, and walking. If it’s good for you, chances are it’s good for the environment.

Great tips. Thanks Elizabeth.
