Green Events: Traveling on Grease to Greece.
Anyone see the recent London to Athens car rally. With all partipating cars running on used cooking fat, it’s a quite unique. CNN, writing about it in July, called it the ‘Chip Pan Rally’. But it’s official name is ‘Grease to Greece’.
The brainchild of Londoner Andy Pag, the Grease to Greece car rally had eight teams racing across Euope, stopping at restaurants, cafes, and fast-food joints along the way to feed not only themselves but also their cars.
The 10 day, 2,500 mile trip was designed to promote awareness of how easy it is to use cheap and environmentally friendly bio-fuels such as cooking oil.
Pag, a well known eco-traveler who last year drove from the UK Timbuktu in Mali in a biotruck powered by waste chocolate.
Next year, Pag is planning a round-the-world trip using aviation fuel made from recycled plastic bags…
