Go Green in New Zealand with Organic Explorer.
This is the ultimate guidebook for anyone who wants to travel green in New Zealand.
Full of information about eco-friendly places to eat, stay and explore, Organic Explorer New Zealand has opened up a whole new world of places for me to visit next time I’m traveling around New Zealand. It’s even highlighted a few places I never knew about in my own backyard.
Written by Leonie Johnsen, who used to be with NZ Organic magazine, this guidebook travels from the top of the North Island to the bottom of the South Island, detailing places to eat, sleep, and play the organic way. But what’s even better is that Leonie has also created a website that provides all the information in the book and more.
Offering a searchable database which lets you quickly pinpoint where to go for what, the Organic Explorer website answers all your questions about traveling green in New Zealand.

Thank you so much for your blog on our Organic Explorer website and book. It’s great to see that travelling green is becoming so mainstream! When Leonie started Organic Explorer 18 months ago, we had no idea that oil prices would deteriorate or public awareness shift so rapidly.
Although both the website and the book are doing well, Leonie and I have been discussing how we can make the book even more attractive and interesting for a wider reader-public by expanding the content over and above the listings we have. At the moment there are pieces written on the different regions and where we were able we have added some Maori perspective and history into these. In the upcoming edition, we have asked several clients and notable organic food writers to contribute articles. Maori chef, TV personality and E-Tour operator Charles Royal and author and TV personality Leslie Kenton have both agreed to do so. We are also increasing the Maori content of the website with additional sections on regional histories written by tangata whenua (Ulva Goodwillie in Stewart Island, Melissa Crockett (Potiki Adventures, Auckland) and Maurice Maniopoto of Kaikoura amongst others). In addition, we are currently working to compile a series of itineraries on major transportation routes, linking sustainable food, accommodation and tourism experiences for the discerning traveller. So you will see that we are taking seriously the need to shift the awareness of the travelling public towards organic food and more authentic, more sustainable experiences in New Zealand. One major initiative that is underway is the launch of the 2009 Organic Explorer Guidebook at the Eco Show in Taupo on 10th October. The tourism industry appears to be in for a rocky ride, and making information on local initiatives more available is something we can all do.
We will put a link to your site on our own.
Thanks again.
