Traveling the Green Way

Ecolodge: Northern Edge Algonquin, Canada

by Sonya on December 2nd, 2008

Canada has ecolodges galore for the green traveler.  One place is Northern Edge Algonquin at Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, Canada.   The solar-powered retreat offers organic and locally raised food, local staff, adventure retreats like Yoga & Zen of Winter Retreat and more.

“Join us in contributing to a healthy planet,” say Martha and Todd Lucier, co-founders. “Wherever you slow travel, inquire about your hosts’ efforts to preserve and protect the earth and our atmosphere for future generations.”

This year, the ecolodge is offering a special Climate-Conscious Traveller package.  It includes a 2-for-1 train ticket from Toronto to Algonquin Park on Ontario Northland train (low emissions transportation), free shuttle to the Northern Edge Algonquin and a complimentary t-shirt.
