Making Fresh Tracks at Stratton Mountain Ski Resort, Vermont
Have you wondered about the energy ski resorts expend on snowmaking? Stratton Mountain Ski Resort in Vermont is lowering its environmental impact and increasing its energy efficiency in snowmaking.
The resort is investing half a million dollars in snowmaking energy efficiency programs. These include the purchase of 40 new low E tower guns. They will increase snow particle size leaving flakes “less susceptible to wind, reducing air consumption and saving energy dollars, increases snow output, and reduces small snow particle fog.”
Stratton Mountain Ski Resort shows a commitment to the environment with its Fresh Tracks program involving various eco initiatives. Stratton’s hybrid vehicles now include a new fleet of hybrid Toyota vehicles.
In 2006, Stratton began using renewable energy, purchasing credits from Renewable Choice Energy, a national provider of renewable energy products. Resort guests can purchase renewable energy credits for themselves or their family and receive a free or discounted lift ticket.
