Hey Liz! This is a great blog, I’m actually from the Tampa Bay area, and had no idea this company existed. Do you mind if I repost this?
I also do have a few extra tips for green travelers visiting the area! The Tampa Bay area is a perfect spot for traveling green because they have some of the best beaches in FL.
If you can, visit the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Clearater Beach. They are a non profit organization that does rescue and rehabilitation with marine life (dolphin, sea turtles, river otters, etc). It’s a great time and very educational. Right now, believe it or not they have a dolphin with prosthetic tail!
Spending a day just relaxing at any of the beaches in the Tampa Bay area is also a great green option. Check out Fort Desoto, it’s a HUGE nature park with excellent natural beaches and they even have a camp ground). They also have kayak trails and do have rentals available, bike paths, nature trails, and even a dog beach. If you’re looking for something mellow try Reddington, Indian Rocks, or Treasure Island Beaches. They have miles of beautiful white sand and there are usually not a lot of people around. Now, if you’re looking for a beach with a little more action, check out Clearwater Beach, you’ll still find the beautiful white sand but you’ll also find a lot more people and beach bar action. I also love Caddy’s on Susnset Point. It’s a nice happy medium, there’s a bar there so you can get drinks, but if you walk a few yards out you can find peace and quiet.
Also, anyone traveling to Tampa can find a green hotel and even book a hybrid rental car in Tampa with us over at RezHub.com and we’ll donate 20% of the proceeds to green non-profit groups.
Great Post,
Melissa
