Nature Air: The World’s Greenest Airline.
Nature Air is a Costa Rica airline that offers daily flights to 17 destination in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama. And they have been doing it the ‘carbon neutral way’ since 2004, long before large companies such as Virgin Airlines even started making green travel noises.
So how do they do it?
Well, to start of with, their airline fleet consists primarily of de Havilland Twin Otters which have the quietest and most fuel-efficient engine option available.

‘…voluntarily compensates 100% of its carbon emissions through the protection and reforestation of tropical forests in southern Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity zones of the Osa Pensinsula. Since 2004, NatureAir has compensated for nearly 20,000 tons of carbon dioxide through the protection of over 200 hectares of tropical forest. The company has also been able to reduce emissions by replacing light bulbs, limiting copy paper, recycling, and improving it’s flight plans in order to conserve more fuel, an improvement of roughly 4% in fuel efficiency per hour of flight.’
Sounds like a great way to fly…
